With the changing face of family life, family holidays, days out and so forth, are changing too.  It is becoming increasingly more common for family holidays/days out to consist of one parent rather than the archetypal couple. Whether or not a parent lives with their child/children, they still want to go out and have fun with them.

Being the only adult on any trip can be daunting. Therefore, in 1991 a few intrepid parents got together to found the Single Parent Travel Club in the UK. However with the growth of the internet we are finding interest worldwide so our membership is spreading outside of the UK too. The aim of the club is to link single parent families, with or without residency, so they can enjoy holidays, days out and other events together. Also, as the kids are growing up, there has been a growing enthusiasm to develop an “after” the SPTC Club.

The club has been growing over the years and a wide range and variety of holidays and events have been organised by members.  In the UK these have included Youth Hostels, Holiday Camps (Haven, Butlins, Center Parks, Oasis etc), camping and hotels. Holidays outside the UK have included, Florida (Disneyland), Spain, Greece and France as well as skiing in Slovenia and Andorra. In addition to members have travelled to South Africa and Australia.

Local groups regularly organise days out. These have included for example, visits to museums, zoos, Legoland and Alton Towers as well as walks, cycling and theatre visits and the like.
